Through their continued investment in technology they offer account customers
on-line live data on any equipment they may have on hire at anytime day or
night. They were recently awarded the Passionate Independent Hirer of the Year
award which confirms the industries view that Smiths care passionately about
their customers. Smiths have a fleet of over one hundred access platforms and an
extensive array of plant, tools and equipment to hire.
David Smith, Director, reports that "Smiths were in the process of evaluating
hire management software solutions from two major suppliers, one of which had
provided the system they were running. Both offerings were windows based and did
pretty much the same things in fairly similar ways to each other. Then along
came Higher Concept Software. Their Syrinx software seemed to 'do exactly what
it says on the tin'. There were no fancy bells and whistles, just straight
forward uncomplicated control. It was a revelation. Although not the cheapest
option, Syrinx seemed to 'fit our company' and HCS gave the impression of
honesty and integrity.
On talking to other hire companies who had adopted Syrinx we got the impression
of satisfied customers who all praised HCS for their unparalleled support during
implementation. We found this to be true. No problem was too great and there
were no 'extra charges' for unforeseen difficulties. All of our staff took to
Syrinx with the absolute minimum of training. If you are familiar with windows
and the hire industry you will pick up Syrinx almost immediately.
The introduction of the customer web portal that enables our account customers
to view their account information on-line anytime is turning out to be a very
strong leverage in attracting business and it was a breeze to implement. As we
progress we will be working alongside HCS to develop Syrinx to meet our future
requirements safe in the knowledge that the 'partnership' will produce effective
results. The evaluation and consequent implementation of our new hire management
system was bound to be a long and arduous journey but we are glad that we chose
HCS and Syrinx to do the job, as it made the whole process easier and it is proving
to be the best investment Smiths have made in a long time."
