They have a very diverse hire fleet covering self drive and operated hires, including such items as excavators, dumpers, crushers, screeners, backhoe loaders, and long reach excavators. Previously, all our paperwork was processed by hand. It was labour and paper intensive and extremely hard to follow a paper trail for a specific item on a job. It didn’t matter how many people were employed to keep the paperwork under control. It was obvious that we were fighting a losing battle.

After we looked at another hire software package we came across Syrinx. The Syrinx system was like a breath of fresh air. We soon realised we had discovered a comprehensive system that could cope with our diverse requirements. Using features like the staff development we have been able to log qualifications against our machine operators, this gives us the ability to monitor operator licenses and who needs renewals but also we can match the operator to machines ensuring that they only drive machines on which they are fully trained. The integration of the system into our workshops has helped where we can get regular reports on items due servicing so that we can stay ahead of the game and cause minimal disruption to our customers. We can now keep tabs on parts purchased and allocated to individual hire items giving us a clear picture of which machines have good or bad running costs.

The accounts department have stated that they have really seen the benefits of Syrinx since the move from paper invoicing. They feel in control of the system and can answer customer queries in seconds. We find the Syrinx system easy to use and it delivers a lot of benefits, such as recording customer sites, delivery directions, contacts, customer prices, ability to email documents at the touch of a button, timesheet entry, just some of the functions that have put us in control.
